LONDON (Alliance News) - Sirius Minerals PLC Tuesday said planning applications for the York Potash project went in today, with a formal consultation to start within a fortnight and decisions expected to be made by the end of January.
The company said the planning applications for the mine and mineral transport system and for the materials handling facility have been submitted to the relevant local authorities, in line with previous expectations.
The applications has been submitted to both North Yorkshire Moors National Park Authority and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
"We believe we have a compelling planning case that clearly demonstrates that the York Potash Project can deliver exceptional economic benefits, not only locally here in North Yorkshire and in Teesside but also for the wider UK economy," said Chief Executive and Managing Director of Sirius, Chris Fraser.
"We have planned the Project with a very high regard for the environment and where possible minimising associated impacts. However, it is now for each authority to determine the applications according to the relevant policies and we keenly await their decisions," Fraser added.
Sirius shares were flat on Tuesday, quoted at 14 pence per share.
