LONDON (Alliance News) - Sirius Minerals PLC Monday said results from its on-going global crop study programme confirm the suitability and effectiveness of POLY4 as a commercial fertiliser.
The potash exploration and development company, with operations in the UK and US, said the study took crop results from Durham University and Shandong Agricultural University, along with product characterisation test results by Societe Generale de Surveillance & NRM Laboratories.
The company said the latest results validate previous results on major crops such as corn, cotton, oilseed rape and wheat, in which POLY4 proved to be an effective and valuable fertiliser based on yield and quality performance.
POLY4 is the company's Polyhalite product, which is used as a speciality fertiliser as it contains a range of nutrients and is low in chlorine.
Sirius Minerals said that results also showed that POLY4 outperforms its rival product, potassium chloride, when comparing the aerial dry weight of young wheat growth and the product reduces the risk of seedling disease and significantly improves quality.
Sirius Minerals shares were up 6.6% to 14.65 pence, putting it in the top AIM movers Monday.
