SigmaRoc Hires Tarmac Director McClelland To Help With Foelfach Quarry

10th Jan 2019 13:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - SigmaRoc PLC on Thursday said it appointed David McClelland as managing director following the purchase of Foelfach quarry located in Carmarthenshire, south Wales.

The AIM-listed construction materials company said McClelland will oversee the Foelfach, a high polished stone value quarry, which was acquired by SigmaRoc for a non-material consideration during 2018.

At the time of the acquisition, Foelfach resource was estimated to be 1.8 million tonnes of high PSV minerals.

Post-acquisition, geological services provider Sandybed has worked with SigmaRoc's technical team to prove up a materially larger resource of four million tonnes of high PSV materials.

Under McClelland's leadership the company said it will look to achieve a four-fold increase in the quarry's existing output to 80 thousand tonnes per year.

Prior to joining SigmaRoc, McClelland was most recently a member of building materials firm Tarmac's UK executive committee, overseeing asphalt and concrete plants for central and western regions in UK.

"I am extremely proud that SigmaRoc is able to attract talent of the highest caliber," said SigmaRoc Chief Executive Max Vermorken.

"With Foelfach as a starting point, David will help build our third platform in a region he knows well," added Vermorken.

SigmaRoc shares were trading flat on Thursday at 39.90 pence each.
