Sigma Capital Launches GBP39 Million Liverpool Regeneration Scheme

LONDON (Alliance News) - Sigma Capital Group PLC on Monday said it has launched a major GBP39.0 million regeneration scheme in Liverpool, after having secured funding terms.

The regeneration and private rented sector specialist said funding was secured with Curlew Student Trust, a vehicle managed by real estate investment firm Curlew Capital Ltd.

The scheme will comprise of 28,000 square feet of retail and leisure units, including a 101-bedroom hotel which is pre-let to Whitbread PLC's hotel chain Premier Inn. The scheme will also include a 412-bedroom student accommodation building.

Sigma said its commercial development partner Neptune Developments Ltd will commence construction before the end of 2016, with planning permission having already been obtained in August 2015.

The scheme is part of Sigma's long-standing partnership with Liverpool City Council, which goes under the moniker Regeneration Liverpool.

"The scheme forms part of the regeneration of the Lime Street and Knowledge Quarter areas, a project which is seen as a flagship development for the city. Together with our partner, Neptune Developments, we are delighted to help realise another objective in Liverpool City Council's broader regeneration aims," said Sigma Chief Executive Graham Barnet.

Shares in Sigma were untraded on Monday, having last traded at 72.00 pence.
