LONDON (Alliance News) - Minerals sands producer Sierra Rutile Ltd on Tuesday said it has started construction work on the Gangama Dry Mine in Sierra Leone.
The project will be carried out in two phases, and the company has now approved the funding for the first phase of the project.
"We are very excited to be embarking upon the next phase of expansion. The Gangama Dry Mine is an extremely compelling project that will drive down unit production costs and cement Sierra Rutile as the premier low-cost producer of high-grade feedstocks across the cycle," said Sierra Rutile Chief Executive John Sisay.
Shares in Sierra were up 0.7% to 17.125 pence on Tuesday.
