LONDON (Alliance News) - Sierra Rutile Limited Wednesday said it has entered into a 50,000 tonne rutile sales contract with a major pigment producer but also has revised down its rutile production target.
The metals and mining company focused on Sierra Leone said the contract will be fulfilled through a number of shipments up until March 31, 2014, and means that the company has now contracted 75% of its production for the first quarter 2014.
Sierra Rutile said that it has reassessed its production targets on troubled market conditions and is planning a 4% decrease in its rutile production for 2013 to 120,000 tonnes of rutile from 125,000 tonnes.
Sierra Rutile confirmed Tuesday that it is engaged in discussions with potentially interested parties for a possible takeover of the company.
Sierra Rutile shares were down 1.4% to 70.50 pence Wednesday, though still well above their 52-week low of 45.75 pence.
