Shanks Group, John Laing Environmental Report Fire At Frog Island

7th Aug 2014 12:16

LONDON (Alliance News) - Shanks Group PLC and John Laing Environmental Assets Group Ltd Thursday said a fire broke out at the Frog Island Mechanical Biological Treatment facility in east London on Monday.

The site, which is jointly owned by Shanks and John Laing Environmental and operated by Shanks, is one of two Mechanical Biological Treatment facilities that form part of the East London Waste Authority private finance initiative.

The companies said business continuity plans have been implemented at the site and there will be a minimal impact on the local collection of waste.

The pair are in the process of assessing the damage at the site. Shanks said it does not expect any material impact on its financial performance from the fire, while John Laing Environmental said it would update on any potential material impact once the assessment has been completed.

Shanks shares were down 0.7% to 106 pence on Thursday, while John Laing Environmental shares were flat at 115.97 pence.
