Shaft Sinkers Reports Fatality At Kibali Mine In DRC

14th Aug 2014 09:16

LONDON (Alliance News) - Shaft Sinkers Holdings PLC Thursday said one of its employees at the Kibali gold mine shaft sinking project in the Democratic Republic of Congo was killed on Wednesday during the construction of the vertical shaft.

Kibali is a joint venture of Rand Resources Ltd, AngloGold Ashanti Ltd and Societe Miniere de Kilo-Moto, a Congolese government agency.

Shaft Sinkers said it will dispatch a team to the mine and will work with Randgold, the operator, and local authorities to ensure a full investigation is conducted into the incident.

Shaft Sinkers shares were down 6.8% to 6.875 pence on Thursday, putting it among the biggest fallers on the London market.
