(Alliance News) - Severn Trent Water Ltd has paid GBP226,000 to the Trent Rivers Trust following sewage pollution.
The financial contribution is part of an Enforcement Undertaking offered to the Environment Agency for causing pollution which occurred on the Rothley Brook, Leicestershire in August 2016. The pollution was caused by 2 blockages in the Severn Trent Water foul sewer.
The sewage pollution caused the death of over 2,000 fish.
Trent Rivers Trust is a charity dedicated to the rivers, streams, people and wildlife of the Trent catchment.
The subsidiary of Severn Trent PLC also paid the Environment Agency's incident response and enforcement costs in full.
Shares in water and water waste firm Severn Trent closed flat at 2,497.00 pence in London on Tuesday.
