LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 250 outsourcer Serco Group PLC on Thursday said its DMS Maritime Pty Ltd division has signed a deal for a new icebreaker research and supply vessel for the Australian Antarctic Division of the country's Department of the Environment.
Serco was named preferred bidder on the deal back in October.
The total value of the contract to Serco will be around GBP160.0 million, covering its project management role in the four-year design and build phase, following by an initial ten-year operating contract.
Four potential extensions of five years apiece are also included in the deal, Serco said.
The icebreaker will be used to provide scientists with extended access to the Southern Ocean and Antarctica.
