Sensyne Health Launches BPm-Health Remote Blood Pressure Monitor

5th May 2020 15:38

(Alliance News) - Sensyne Health PLC on Tuesday said it has launched remote monitoring system BPm-Health so that pregnant people can monitor their blood pressure while social distancing.

BPm-Health is to be offered free to NHS patients for a year in order "to support hospital maternity services during the coronavirus pandemic". This follows successful completion of recruitment for a trial involving 3,000 participants over 15 NHS trusts.

Sensyne explained that BPm-Health is among only three of the apps that have been "listed by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists in its recent guidance 'Self-monitoring of blood pressure in pregnancy'."

The clinical artificial intelligence company has already offered to provide GDm-Health, its remote monitoring system for diabetes in pregnancy, free for a year to the NHS back on March 27. It said the offer had seen "high interest and uptake".

Chief Executive Paul Drayson said: "This is now the launch of a second Sensyne product in the field of women's health and our fourth in the area of remote patient monitoring. Sensyne is seeing increasing demand for its products and technology as healthcare systems adapt to the current situation and make plans to digitise quickly for a post-Covid-19 future."

Shares in Sensyne were up 0.4% at 47.70 pence in London in afternoon trading.
