Seeing Machines shares up on OmniVision product launch in second half

5th Jan 2022 15:33

(Alliance News) - Seeing Machines Ltd announced on Wednesday the development of a new driver monitoring system and occupant monitoring system, integrated with the company's Occula Neural Processing Unit.

Shares in the London-based vision technology company wee up 6.9% at 11.08 pence each on Wednesday afternoon in London.

The five-year partnership between Seeing Machines and the California-based semiconductor firm OmniVision Technologies Inc saw its Occula NPU licensed in the first quarter of 2021. The new integrated product powered by Occula is said to deliver "a higher level of processing and performance" than previous drive monitoring and occupant monitoring systems.

"We are excited to be working with OmniVision to bring this optimized DMS/OMS solution to the market. With the introduction of the OAX4600 device, OmniVision now occupies a unique position in the silicon space as the only company that can offer a physical pipeline from pixel to the processing," said Nick DiFiore, general manager of Automotive at Seeing Machines.

Omnivision expects the new ASIC image processing solution to be launched in the second half of 2022.
