SEC Newgate Sees No Significant Impact On Company From Coronavirus

9th Mar 2020 11:41

(Alliance News) - Communications and PR firm SEC Newgate SpA said Monday there has been "no significant impact" on the company caused by the deadly outbreak of the coronavirus.

SEC Newgate is headquartered in Milan, Italy and has about 600 staff working across 30 offices om four continents.

Around 16 million people, more than a quarter of the Italian population, are in a state of lockdown until April 3 as the infection rate of covid-19 continues to rise.

Italy has registered more cases of coronavirus than any country outside China while its death toll has risen to 366.

"The company reports that a substantially full service is being delivered across all the group subsidiaries," SEC Newgate said.

It added: "Dynamic and remote working solutions are being successfully used on a continuous basis in the Far East and Italy, the two main areas of the world where coronavirus is currently making the biggest impact. Elsewhere, contingency plans are in place."

Chief Executive Fiorenzo Tagliabue: "As a professional services consultancy, we are highly experienced in managing complex situations such as this across multiple stakeholders. We have an absolute focus on serving and supporting our clients and looking after the wellbeing of our own team, working with even greater commitment to minimise any impact on our business.

"We have done it in past crises, and we will cope with this exceptional situation with responsibility and determination."

Shares in SEC Newgate were down 7.3% in London on Monday at 38.00 pence each.
