SDL First-Half Profit Beats Expectations On Strong Revenue Boost

4th Aug 2015 08:16

LONDON (Alliance News) - SDL PLC Tuesday reported a rise in profit in the first half of 2015 ahead of its expectations as it demonstrated strong sales growth and said its guidance for the full year remains unchanged.

The customer-experience management services company said that pretax profit in the six months ended June 30 grew to GBP6.0 million from GBP3.1 million in the same period the year before, as revenue rose to GBP133.9 million from GBP129.1 million.

SDL said that its results were boosted by a strong performance from its Language Services division, which demonstrated growth of 4%, while revenue in the Technology division rose 3%.

"The group has delivered a solid first-half performance with strong revenue and profit performance from Language Services, ahead of our expectations. This area of our business continues to see strong momentum with a good outlook," Chief Executive Mark Lancaster said in a statement.

"Within our Technology segment annual recurring revenue has continued to grow, but new bookings have been disappointing, and we have made some proactive changes within the segment. We expect to see growth for the year as a whole, as our pipeline converts and our sales force continues to bed in. As we enter the second half with a solid pipeline, our expectations for the group remain unchanged, and the board remains confident in the company's vision, strategy and ability to deliver shareholder value in the longer term," he added.

Shares in SDL were trading down 4.1% at 383.92 pence Tuesday morning.
