Scientific Digital Imaging Profit, Sales Rise Driven By Acquisitions

27th Jul 2018 09:42

LONDON (Alliance News) - Technical products maker Scientific Digital Imaging PLC said Friday its full year revenue and profit rose significantly, boosted by organic growth combined with the addition of acquisitions.

For the year ended April 30, pretax profit almost doubled to GBP1.7 million from GBP903,000 the year prior. This was after revenue rose 36% to GBP14.5 million from GBP10.7 million the year before. Organic growth represented nearly a third of the revenue rise, with the remainder from acquisitions.

Organic growth has been driven by sales of Sentek single-use electrodes and new astronomy and life science products from Atik Cameras. Growth from acquisitions was driven by its GBP4.8 million takeover of Astles Control Systems Ltd and GBP1.2 million buy-out of Applied Thermal Control Ltd.

"The positive contribution of Atik Cameras and Sentek via their global OEM business, as well as direct sales of Synoptics and ACS products are expected to drive growth and profitability in 2018-19," Scientific Digital Chairman Ken Ford said.

"To maintain and develop its portfolio," Ford added, "SDI will continue its proven strategy of organic and acquisitive growth. The Board is confident that the SDI group will continue to deliver profitable growth through increased revenue and new acquisitions in 2018-19."

Scientific Digital does not pay a dividend. The firm is keeping the policy "under review", however.

Shares in Scientific Digital were 9.1% higher at 44.20 pence on Friday.
