Science in Sport Enters Chinese Market Via Online Store On Alibaba

LONDON (Alliance News) - Science in Sport PLC on Wednesday said it entered the Chinese market following a launch of an online store on Alibaba's TMall Global Store platform.

TMall Global Store has 576 million active consumers and a 25% market share in China.

The sports nutrition company said the online store was launched on Monday, offering its clients 27 products from the company's GO Energy, GO Hydro and REGO Rapid Recovery product ranges.

Science in Sport already sells its endurance products in over 100 countries with its key markets being UK, Italy and US. Over half of its products are sold through online channels including its own website.

"We are excited to be launching online in the world's largest e-commerce market. Through TMall we now have access to one of the fastest growing markets in a low risk way," said Chief Executive Stephen Moon.

"We are confident that our strategy will deliver consistently rapid sales growth in years to come," added Moon.

Science in Sport shares were trading 0.7% higher on Wednesday at 72.00 pence each.
