Schroder Japan Growth Outperforms Benchmark In Financial Year

LONDON (Alliance News) - Schroder Japan Growth Fund PLC Thursday said its portfolio outperformed its benchmark in its last financial year, with the net asset value producing a positive total return in sterling of 1.6% over the year, compared to a negative total return of 0.2% in sterling terms for the benchmark.

Schroder Japan Growth Fund?s principal investment objective is to achieve capital growth from an actively managed portfolio principally comprising securities listed on the Japanese stock markets, with the aim of achieving growth in excess of the TSE First Section Total Return Index over the longer term.

Between the end of the recent financial year on July 31 and Friday last week, the market has risen by 4% in local currency terms, the trust said, while the fund's NAV has produced a positive total return of 2.14%, the yen having weakened relative to sterling.

The company's NAV per share was 138.75p at the end of July.

Schroder Japan Growth Fund shares were Thursday quote down 2.1% at 121.94p.
