Savannah Resources Sees Excellent Test Results At Mina Do Barroso

29th Jan 2019 13:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Savannah Resources PLC said Tuesday further "excellent" test work results from its Mina do Barroso lithium project in Portugal is "encouraging".

Metallurgical test work at the project produced concentrates containing between 6.0% and 6.5% lithium oxide, with lithium recoveries in excess of 80%.

The Grandao deposit, where the test work was carried out, represents the first five years of mine production. Planning is underway to run a pilot programme on a bulk sample of ore to define the process flow sheet for the final plant design.

The project is targeting an average annual production of 175,000 tonnes of spodumene at a grade of 6% lithium oxide.

"To see such excellent results from the metallurgical test work is encouraging as it continues to validate Mina do Barroso as a conventional lithium project in terms of the process flow-sheet and the product produced," said Chief Executive Officer David Archer.

"Ongoing test work will continue to help refine our understanding of the behaviour of the produced material and I look forward to continuing to update our shareholders over the coming months."

Test work will continue within other deposits at the project.

Shares in Savannah Resources were up 2.0% Tuesday at 5.00 pence each.
