LONDON (Alliance News) - San Leon Energy PLC Monday said fracking tests in Poland provided good results, though it expects only a modest yield of gas from one of the areas.
San Leon said the test at the Gdansk W Concession saw the highest frac pump rate at pressure ever performed outside the US, with excellent gas quality found. The company said 98% was burnable gas,of which, 75% was methane. However, it said it expects only "modest" yields from the concession. San Leon will look to complete a frac in a 1500-metre horizontal section to unlock more oil in the future.
Its Rogity-1 well on the Braniewo S Concession, another San Leon site in Poland's northern Baltic Basin, also underwent a fracking test. Oil was found and future tests will follow.
"Due to the depth and other rock properties encountered, the use of larger, high-strength proppant will be required in future fracs. The company believes this, and increased proppant concentration in the fracs, will significantly increase fracture conductivity and ultimately provide a significant improvement in flow rates," the company said in statement Monday.
"The company is also in talks with UOS to design, and execute immediately thereafter, fracs in a 1500-metre horizontal section, which the company expects to unlock the potential of this play," it added.
San Leon shares were Monday quoted at 5.59 pence, up 0.34 pence, or 6.5%.
