LONDON (Alliance News) - San Leon Energy PLC said on Thursday that it has appointed Genel Energy Chief Operating Officer Bill Higgs to its board as non-executive director with immediate effect.
Higgs is the former COO of Ophir Energy PLC and was also CEO of Mediterranean Oil and Gas.
"His extensive career in the oil & gas industry and particularly his senior operational roles at other listed companies will provide valuable expertise to us as we continue to work with the operator, Eroton, in developing our core asset of OML 18 in Nigeria," said San Leon Chief Operating Officer Oisin Fanning.
OML 18, or Onshore Nigeria Oil Mining Lease 18, has recently become the focus of an ongoing dispute involving the Nigerian department of petroleum resources.
San Leon said on Thursday that allegations regarding a lack of consent for OML 18 from the Nigerian government are untrue as the structure of the OML 18 deal did not require the permission of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.
Shares in San Leon Energy closed down 1.4 at 26.80p each on Thursday.
