(Alliance News) - Samsung Electronics Co on Tuesday said it has been selected by Vodafone Group PLC as its primary partner for deploying open radio access network technology in Europe.
Seoul, South Korea-based Samsung said the collaboration marks "a significant milestone" in its growth on the continent.
Samsung will first implement its RAN solutions in Germany, which it says will become one of Europe's largest open RAN deployments.
The first site has gone online Hannover, while Wismar will be the first city served by Vodafone to be fully equipped with open RAN - set for early 2026.
Overall, Samsung and London-based wireless carrier Vodafone will add thousands of open RAN sites across Europe over a five-year programme.

Vodafone shares close up 1.0% at 85.26 pence in London on Tuesday. Samsung closed down 1.8% at KRW91,600.00 in Seoul.
