LONDON (Alliance News) - Salt Lake Potash Ltd said on Friday initial results from trials on its Lake Well potash project, to confirm the potential to host a large salt lake brine project, had been encouraging, after having completed both shallow core drilling and deeper air core drilling on the site.
The company, which traded under the name Wildhorse Energy Ltd until December, said a "scoping study" on the Lake Wells site in Western Australia was to commerce shortly, and it was currently in talks with engineering firms to move this forward.
Salt Lake said isothermal evaporation trials on selected bulk brine samples were already underway to estimate the salting points and predict the conditions for the production of schoenite salt, adding that preliminary results were "very encouraging" and in line with the company's expectations for the site's potential to produce sulphate of potash.
In November, the company reported it had secured a maiden mineral resource estimate for the project which indicated up to 29.0 million tonnes of sulphate of potash was in place for extraction. It had said the drilling confirmed the brine at depth at the project and identified permeable rock units, which could provide a productive acquifier for brine extraction.
Shares in Salt Lake were untraded in London on Friday, having last traded at 9.15 pence.
