(Alliance News) - McColl's Retail Group PLC on Friday said Chief Commercial Officer Richard Crampton has resigned with immediate effect to take up a role at FTSE 100-listed J Sainsbury PLC.
Crampton will become director of Fresh Food & Food Services at Sainsbury's, where he had previously held numerous commercial positions for seven years up to 2015, including chief executive officer of Sainsbury's Mobile.
He will be released from his contractual obligation notice on February 18 after an "orderly handover", the company has said.
McColl's share price was down 5.2% to 10.90 pence each on Friday at midday in London.
The role as CCO was newly created in 2019 for Crampton's appointment, and McColl's will not seek a replacement. Instead, current Chief Operating Officer Karen Bird will assume the role's duties.
Prior to McColl's, Bird spent 25 years at Tesco PLC, where she led significant change programs.
McColl's chief executive officer, Jonathon Miller, commented: "Karen has made a significant contribution to the business since joining in 2016 and has been instrumental in leading the Morrisons Daily rollout. With these changes I am confident that we have a strong team in place to implement our strategy, and that the rollout of Morrisons Daily will deliver long-term sustainable growth."
