(Alliance News) - Safran SA on Wednesday reported an intensification of its collaboration with aerospace, defence and nuclear engineering services company, Babcock International Group PLC, as they seek to leverage expertise to develop new defence solutions.
The Paris-based aerospace and defence company said it has inked a memorandum of understanding with London-based Babcock International that aims to combine their expertise and deliver advanced solutions for the UK, France and international defence markets.
Under the terms of the memorandum, the companies are set to intensify their collaboration across multi-domain mission systems, aircraft engines, space systems and tactical and strategic communications.
The understanding builds on the companies' long-standing partnership, noted Safran, and will see the companies jointly pursue "major defence programmes in land, naval, and air domains." It expects these programmes to drive both the development and integration of new technologies.
Safran added that the cooperation under this agreement will also entail joint research and development opportunities, with them sharing best practices across different fields.
Babcock Chief Executive David Lockwood said: "Our defence customers need the assurance that industry is working together to develop and deliver the best, and most innovative, products and services. Babcock and Safran will develop our relationship to increase military support, while strengthening the partnership between France and UK."
Babcock shares were up 1.8% to 1,070.00 on Wednesday morning in London, one of the top FTSE 100 index gainers. Safran shares were up 1.8% at EUR264.40 in Paris.
