LONDON (Alliance News) - PLastic windows and doors maker Safestyle UK PLC said Tuesday that Chief Executive Officer Steve Birmingham has retired as boss and will leave the firm at the end of 2018 with Mike Gallacher to replace him.
Birmingham - CEO since its initial public offering in 2013, having been managing director since 2007 - will remain as an executive director until he leaves the company.
"Steve has been instrumental in the company's growth over the last 19 years and I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the board to thank him for his significant contribution," Safestyle Chairman Peter Richardson said. "I am pleased that he will be remaining in the business to ensure a suitable period of continuity and an orderly handover to his successor."
Gallacher - a former British Army officer - held a number of senior roles at confectionery firm Mars Inc, including as UK managing director of Mars Petcare.
Most recently, Gallacher served as CEO of dairy firm First Milk Ltd where he delivered a major turnaround and restructuring which resulted in a GBP30 million boost to profitability in two years.
"Mike is a great addition to the Safestyle team and I am pleased that he has agreed to join the board," Richardson added. "His leadership qualities and commercial and operational experience, particularly in relation to performance improvement, will be invaluable to the business at this stage in its development."
Shares in Safestyle were 7.0% higher at 59.69 pence on Tuesday.
