(Alliance News) - Safestore Holdings PLC said Wednesday it hired former Goodman Fielder boss David Hearn as chair from the the start of 2020.
Hearn will become a non-executive director at the self-storage firm from Sunday, before becoming chair of the FTSE 250-listed firm at the start of 2020. Hearn will replace current Chair Alan Lewis, who announced in January he would be retiring from the company after a decade on the board and five years as chair.
Previously, Hearn was the boss of Australian consumer goods firm Goodman Fielder and the Europe & Asia unit of biscuits maker United Biscuits. He is currently the chair of a2 Milk Co, one of the largest listed firms in New Zealand.
Chief Executive Officer Frederic Vechhioli thanked Lewis for his "extensive contribution, guidance and stewardship of Safestore over the past decade."
"He has played an important role in overseeing Safestore's outstanding growth journey," Vechhioli added.
"David will be an excellent successor and brings a proven track record of chairing companies through significant expansion," Vechhioli continued. "His extensive experience and commercial knowledge will be invaluable to Safestore as we drive the business forward through our next phase of growth. I look forward to working closely with him."
Shares in Borehamwood-based Safestore were 0.9% higher at 741.00 pence in London on Wednesday.
