(Alliance News) - Low-cost airline Ryanair Holdings PLC announced on Wednesday it was investing USD200 million in Sweden as part of a significant expansion in the Scandinavian country.
It follows the Swedish government's decision to abolish the Aviation Tax from July 1, 2025.
In a statement, Ryanair said the Stockholm's decision to scrap the tax is "pragmatic and forward-thinking."
Ryanair said it will rapidly increase capacity in Sweden by adding 2 extra Boeing 737 aircraft to its Sweden-based fleet. The USD200 million investment, in summer 2025, will create 60 new high-paid jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers locally, the Irish company said.
The airline also plans to launch 10 new Ryanair routes for Sweden.
