(Alliance News) - Low-cost airline Ryanair Holdings PLC said Thursday it is to end operations at three German airports from the summer of 2025, blaming the decision on high taxes and fees.
Airports in the western city of Dortmund and the eastern hubs of Dresden and Leipzig will no longer be served under the new plans.
Flights from the northern city of Hamburg are to be reduced by 60%, with a 20% fall in the capital Berlin, as previously announced in August.
A total of 22 routes are being cut completely, with a 12% reduction in flights across Germany compared to the summer of 2024.
In a statement, the Dublin-based airline said the decision was "due to the German government's continued failure to reduce air traffic tax, security and air traffic control charges, which are hindering recovery and growth."
Ryanair shares were 0.1% lower at EUR16.65 each on Thursday afternoon in Dublin.
