LONDON (Alliance News) - Europe's largest low-cost carrier Ryanair Holdings PLC Friday announced a number of senior management appointments, including the hire of Moneysupermarket.com Group PLC's Kenny Jacobs, as the company's new Chief Marketing Officer.
The low-cost airline, under the helm of Chief Executive Michael O'Leary is known for its proactive and sometimes controversial statements, but has been working on improving its image and customer services, it said.
Ryanair said that the new senior management appointments are part of its strategy to improving customer services, lowering its air fares and expanding its route network and bases across Europe.
Michael Hickey, who was previously Director of Engineering, has been promoted to Group Director of Operations, effective from February 1.
"The Board and I have every confidence that this new Senior Management team will deliver Ryanair's exciting plans to grow from 80 million to over 110 million passengers per annum over the next 5 years," said O'Leary in a statement, adding "We are particularly excited by our 7 new bases for summer 2014 in Rome Fiumicino, Brussels Zaventem, Palermo, Catania and Lamezia in Southern Italy and Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece."
Earlier this week, Ryanair also said that it was launching its new Groups and Corporate Travel Service, and appointed Lesley Kane as head of the unit. The new service allows customers to access a 'Groups' section of Ryanair with flexible tickets, reserved seating and fast-track through selected airports designed for groups. It said a new business product will be announced in the next few weeks.
Ryanair shares were up 1.9% Friday afternoon, trading at 6.64 pence per share.
