Ryanair April Passenger Numbers Boosted By Timing Of Easter

6th May 2014 09:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - Ryanair Holdings PLC, Europe's largest low-cost carrier, Tuesday said it flew 7.8 million passengers in April, up from 7.4 million a year earlier, because Easter fell in April this year.

The company said its load factor, a measure of how many seats on its planes are filled, rose to 84%, from 81% in April 2013.

Easter is a key period for airlines as many people try and get away for the holidays. Easter fell in April this year, but in March last year. Last month, it said it flew 5.2 million passengers in March this year, down 200,000 on the previous year, due to the timing of Easter.

However, for the 12 months to end-April, Ryanair flew 82 million passengers, 3% more than in the previous 12 months, while its load factor was 83%.
