(Alliance News) - Ryanair Holdings PLC and Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Thursday posted traffic growth for February, as the travel sector continues its post-Covid-19 bounce.
Dublin-based Ryanair said passengers numbers in February grew 22% to 10.6 million from 8.7 million a year earlier.
Its load factor improved to 92% from 86%.
The low-cost airline noted February 2022's outcome was hurt by Omicron travel curbs and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In the 12 months to the end of February, passenger numbers were 93% higher at 167.2 million, the carrier said.
Wizz carried 3.8 million passengers last month, a 97% jump on-year. Capacity was 92% higher at 4.1 million and its load factor improved to 93.3% from 91.0%.
For the rolling 12 months to February, capacity was 74% higher at 56.4 million and passengers numbers jumped 97% to 49.3 million.
Ryanair shares were 0.7% lower at EUR14.89 each in Dublin on Thursday morning. In London, Wizz Air shot-up 4.1% to 2,727.46p.
