LONDON (Alliance News) - Royal Mail PLC on Wednesday said it has agreed a deal to acquire same-day delivery service eCourier for an undisclosed amount.
The FTSE 100-listed postal operator said eCourier primarily operates in the Greater London area and it will be combined with Royal Mail Sameday, its existing courier service.
Royal Mail said the deal will back the expansion of its parcel business, extend its same-day network and will help it to capture more value from the fastest-growing segment of the UK parcels market.
"Today's announcement marks another milestone in our strategic objective of increasing our presence in growth areas of the parcels market. Same day deliveries are already one of the fastest growing segments of the UK parcels market," said Moya Greene, Royal Mail's chief executive.
Royal Mail is scheduled to release half-year results on Thursday.
