LONDON (Alliance News) - Roxi Petroleum PLC Tuesday said deep well drilling at its A5 deep well on the BNG asset has passed through the salt layer and one of its shallow wells has begun test production.
The central Asian oil and gas company with a focus on Kazakhstan, said drilling at A5 has reached a total depth of 4,081 metres after successfully passing through a salt layer on site and casing is now being set ahead of further drilling down to 4,700 metres, which is expected to recommence in May.
Roxi Petroleum said earlier this month that the salt layer started around 3,800 metres and below the salt layer it expects to find a gas cap before entering its target source rock.
The company also said on Tuesday that its shallow Well 806, which is targeting Jurassic bearing sands at 2,200 metres, has produced on a test basis 22 barrels of oil per day, but noted that a slight repair is necessary to improve production volumes.
Roxi said testing has started at its Wells 143 and 805 and test results are expected to be available in the next few weeks.
The company added that the NK24 well at its Galaz field has reached planned total depth of 1,650 metres and has been perforated for testing in two intervals with the early results of these tests expected to be available in the next few weeks.
Roxi Petroleum shares were down 7.0% to 5.00 pence Tuesday.
