LONDON (Alliance News) - Engine maker Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC Wednesday said it had won a new deal, worth up to USD1 billion, to supply engines for the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules aircraft.
In a statement, the company said it will deliver about 600 of its AE 2100 turboprop engines for all variants of the aircraft through to 2025. The deal will service US Government and International contract requirements between 2014 and 2018, it added.
"Lockheed Martin and Rolls-Royce have partnered for decades to produce thousands of the world's leading medium transport aircraft. Our new engine agreement secures that relationship for years to come," Tom Bell, president of Rolls-Royce Defense said.
Lockheed has already delivered more than 300 of the four-engine aircraft C-130J Hercules military aircraft to customers in 16 countries. Under previous deals, Rolls-Royce has already delivered more than 1,500 of its AE 2100 engines to Lockheed for the planes. The British company had also previously provided its T56 engines for earlier versions of the C-130.
Rolls-Royce shares were up 0.8% at 1,215 pence midday Wednesday.
