LONDON (Alliance News) - Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC Monday said it will invest GBP22.0 million to build a new marine facility in Rio de Janeiro State, a move that will allow it to better support customers in the Brazilian offshore oil and gas industry.
In a statement, Rolls-Royce said the new facility in Duque de Caxias will be used to assemble and test large thrusters and other propulsion equipment for use on semisubmersible rigs, drill ships, FPSOs and other complex offshore vessels.
Construction at the 27,000 square metre site will begin next month, Rolls-Royce said, with delivery of the first set of UUC 405 thrusters, for seven drill ships being built by Brazilian shipyard Estaleiro Atlântico Sul for Sete Brasil, to commence in June 2015.
Rolls-Royce shares were Monday quoted at 1,079 pence, down 0.4%.
