(Alliance News) - Engine maker Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC and German power plant maker 2G Energy AG signed a cooperation deal on Friday which will see each purchase gas generators from one another.
Under the deal, FTSE 100-listed Rolls-Royce will be supplied with combined heat & power gas generators in the 250 to 550 kilowatt power range. Rolls-Royce will market these generators under its MTU brand.
In turn, 2G Energy, which is based in Heek in North Rhine-Westphalia, will buy the MTU Series 4000 gas generators which generate an output between 776 and 2,535 kilowatt from Rolls-Royce.
"The strategic partnership with 2G complements our product range with energy-efficient and environmentally compatible CHPs and represents a further strategic step towards becoming a solution provider," Rolls-Royce Power Systems Corporate Strategy Vice-President Petar Pelemis said.
"Within the foreseeable future, the 2G products will replace Rolls-Royce's low-power cogeneration units, which were previously based on the proven MTU Series 400 gas engine," Pelemis added.
Shares in London-based Rolls-Royce were 2.3% lower at 758.80 pence in London on Monday.
