Rolls-Royce Secures Diesel Engines Contract From General Dynamics

27th May 2015 06:07

LONDON (Alliance News) - Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC on Wednesday said it has secured a contract from US aerospace and defence company General Dynamics' European Land Systems unit for 589 MTU Seris 199 diesel engines.

The order is worth around EUR80 million and the engines are to be used in the SCOUT Specialist Vehicle General Dynamics has built for the British Army. It will be the first time MTU engines have been used by the British Army.

Delivery of the engines will start in 2016 and will run through to 2022.

"We are delighted that our MTU engine has been trusted for this important project. This order once again proves that when it comes to performance and reliability, the Series 199 engine is benchmark in its power range," said Ulrich Dohle, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
