LONDON (Alliance News) - Rockhopper Exploration PLC on Thursday said the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the transport and installation of certain equipment at the Sea Lion development has been awarded to Subsea7.
The oil and gas exploration and production company, which has interests in the North Falkland Basin and the Greater Mediterranean region, said Subsea7 will transport and install the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) for the project.
In addition, the FEED contract for flexibles, such as flexible pipe systems, has been awarded to National Oilwell Varco.
The company expects the FEED contract for the subsea production systems at the project to be awarded during the first quarter of 2016.
"The award of FEED for SURF Transport and Installation and Flexibles to such internationally renowned contractors builds on the momentum of the award of the floating production, storage and offloading [vessel] FEED contract to SBM earlier this year and demonstrates that, despite the low oil price environment, the Sea Lion project continues to move forward," Chief Executive Samuel Moody said.
The Sea Lion project is offshore Falkland Islands.
Shares in Rockhopper were up 2.1% at 27.82 pence on Thursday morning.
