LONDON (Alliance News) - Rockfire Resources PLC on Tuesday said it completed initial soil sampling, rock sampling, and geological mapping at the Copper Dome porphyry project in Queensland, Australia.
Rockfire shares were trading down 4.4% at 0.81 pence each on Tuesday morning.
Currently, Rockfire has an option to acquire the Copper Dome project which expires on May 23.
Among the preliminary findings from the completed work, malachite and azurite were observed in several locations and alteration of rocks, particularly by silica, was recorded during mapping, Rockfire said.
"This initial program of work at Copper Dome has provided our field crews with a good understanding of the specific issues relevant to a new project including access, terrain, geomorphology, outcrop distribution, geology and surface mineralization," Chief Executive Officer David Price said.
"The soil and rock samples will provide a great snapshot of the overall potential of the prospect to deliver a project of scale. Results obtained from the soil and rock sampling will assist Rockfire's pending decision whether to exercise the option to acquire Copper Dome."
