LONDON (Alliance News) - Rio Tinto PLC on Thursday said it has continued to find mineralisation at the Winu project since February.
Rio Tinto announced the discovery of copper and gold at Winu, in the Yeneena basin in Western Australia, in February.
Since then, "significant" work has continued, and results continue to show "relatively wide" intersections of vein-style copper, associated with gold and silver.
They are relatively shallow, Rio Tinto said, at 50 metres to 100 metres. Winu is open at depth and to the east, north, and south.
Rio Tinto has started the next phase of drilling and it will release the results in the third quarter of 2019.
Results have been "encouraging", the bluechip miner said, but it stressed work is still at an early stage and there is not enough information yet to come up with a mineral resource.
