Ricardo names former Intertek and BT executive as new CEO

26th Aug 2021 09:24

(Alliance News) - Ricardo PLC has appointed Graham Ritchie, a former Intertek Group PLC and BT Group PLC executive, as its new chief executive, the company announced Thursday.

Ritchie will replace Dave Shemmans, who is stepping down from the role on September 30 after 16 years at the West Sussex-based engineering and environmental consultancy.

Since 2016, Ritchie has been a member of the Executive Committee at Intertek, responsible for the quality assurance firm's operations in Europe, including Russia, and Central Asia. Prior to that, he was the FTSE 100 company's financial controller.

Previously, he held senior financial positions at BT and other technology services organisations, having started his career with PwC, Ricardo noted.

Ritchie will begin in the chief executive role on October 1.

"Graham has significant business experience and the drive to help us take Ricardo to the next level of growth and development. I am personally very pleased that we have been able to attract someone with his calibre, track record and further potential," commented Chair Terry Morgan.

Shares in Ricardo were down 0.1% to 381.54 pence in London on Thursday morning.
