Rex Bionics Signs Agreement With US Army Medical Unit

11th Mar 2016 07:56

LONDON (Alliance News) - Rex Bionics PLC on Friday said it has agreed terms on a Materiel Transfer Agreement with the US Army Medical Research & Materiel Command.

The agreement is the first stage of a programme of design modifications to be made to the REX Robot systems, designed to help the mobility of wheelchair users, which will allow for its use in helping the early ambulation of patients with lower limb loss.

No financial details were disclosed on the agreement.

Rex also noted a statement issued by Rewalk Robotics Ltd in December that the US Department of Veterans Affairs has issued a national policy for the evaluation, training and procurement of ReWalk Personal exoskeleton systems for qualifying veterans across the US.

Rex said that while the policy does not directly relate to its system, it is confident where will be some US veterans for whom the Rex system is the only, or at least preferred, option.

"We are delighted with this opportunity and the recognition of REX's unique design features. It is a strong start for our strategy to take REX into acute as well as chronic care management," said Rex Chief Executive Crispin Simon.
