Rex Bionics Says Exoskeleton Demo Using Mind Control Successful

4th Aug 2015 09:12

LONDON (Alliance News) - Rex Bionics PLC, which develops and manufactures robotic exoskeletons, Tuesday said its REX Robot directed by Mind Control technology was successfully demonstrated at the 2015 Meeting of Robotics in Rome.

At the conference, a 21 year-old quadriplegic man with a C3 level complete spinal injury, walked in the REX while in control using the Mind Control technology.

Rex Bionics have also upgraded the REX robot with enhanced RexLink software that allows researchers and therapists to precisely record all of the movements of the REX automatically and in real time. The company said that this will be valuable in the study of the bio-mechanics of the core REX system and the new applications in the pipeline.

"Our mission is to make REX available to all wheel-chair users, including quadriplegics. The development of these technologies represents real progress - for people with spinal cord injury and with other illnesses and injuries too," said Rex Bionics Chief Executive Crispin Simon.

Rex Bionics PLC shares were down 0.2% at 57.40 pence Tuesday morning
