Restaurant Group Chair Debbie Hewitt to step down for leadership of FA

8th Jun 2021 09:23

(Alliance News) - Restaurant Group PLC on Tuesday said Chair Debbie Hewitt will be stepping down with effect at the end of 2021, in order to take up the chair of the English Football Association in January next year.

Hewitt has been in her role at the restaurant operator - which runs the Frankie & Benny's and Chiquito chains - for five years since 2016. She will be the FA's first female chair in its 157-year history.

Restaurant's board has started a formal process to find a successor, led by Senior Independent Director Graham Clemett.

"The FA have chosen Debbie for her extensive chair expertise across a wide range of business sectors, and there is no doubt that TRG has benefited from that experience," Chief Executive Officer Andy Hornby said.

Shares in Restaurant Group were 1.9% higher at 132.20 pence on Tuesday in London.
