Resolute Mining Warns Problems At Syama Mine Plant Will Hurt Output

9th Oct 2019 13:19

(Alliance News) - Resolute Mining Ltd on Wednesday said it has identified a problem in the Syama Gold Mine sulphide processing processing circuit which will materially impact production from the circuit for the final quarter of 2019.

Shares in the company were down 11% at 69.56 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.

The Australia and Africa focused gold miner said it has detected a crack in the main external shell of the roaster, a key component of the sulphide processing circuit at the company's Syama mine located in Mali, and, as a result, the processing plant has been taken offline.

The roaster was successfully brought back into service following September maintenance and repair work, however, upon reheating and under normal operational loads, a crack was observed in the external shell of the roaster, the company said.

Resolute Mining said it is currently cooling down the the roaster to assess the full extent of the crack and identify remedial measures. The company plans to provide further details of impact of the shutdown on fourth quarter production once it completes its probe into the problem.
