Resolute Mining seeks clarity on Guinea exploration permits

29th May 2025 11:55

(Alliance News) - Resolute Mining Ltd on Thursday said it has not received formal communication from the Guinean government following media reports that a number of exploration permits in the country, including its own, may have been revoked.

The Africa-focused gold miner said it was aware of a local television report earlier this week that mentioned the possible revocation of numerous permits, including those held by Resolute. The company said it is seeking further information and clarification from the government.

Resolute holds three exploration permits in Guinea: Niagassola, Doko and Siguiri-Kouroussa. These include the Mansala Prospect, which has an inferred mineral resource estimate of 8.4 million tonnes at 1.3 grams per tonne of gold, containing 357,000 ounces. This estimate was announced in 2024 following a two-year drilling programme.

Earlier this month, Resolute agreed to transfer the three Guinea permits to AngloGold Ashanti Ltd as part of its Doropo acquisition. The transfer remains subject to government approval.

Resolute Mining shares were down 2.0% at 29.06 pence in London at midday on Thursday.
