Resolute Mining Completes Repair Work At Syama Gold Mine

10th Dec 2019 13:49

(Alliance News) - Resolute Mining Ltd on Tuesday said it has completed the repair work for the sulphide roaster at the company's Syama gold mine in Mali within the scheduled timeline and allocated budget.

The roaster, which heats up ore in the sulphide processing circuit at Syama, was taken offline in early October due to the detection of a crack in the main external shell.

The roaster repair consisted of completely replating the crack on the main roaster body. An additional crack in the primary cyclone and two minor cracks on the main roaster body were also replated during the repair programme.

The gold miner said reheating of the sulphide roaster has now started and concentrate feed is expected to commence in the next five days.

John Welborn, Resolute's managing director and chief executive, said: "We are now reheating the roaster and expect to shortly return the sulphide circuit to full operational capacity. We remain committed to delivering on our ambitions at Syama by delivering stable long-life, low-cost production from the Syama Underground Mine. With significant ore stockpiles now available we are preparing for a highly productive period at Syama during 2020."

Shares in Resolute were 2.4% lower at 60.36 pence each in London on Tuesday afternoon.
