LONDON (Alliance News) - Anheuser-Busch InBev SA could table a GBP70 billion bid for SAB Miller this week, The Sunday Times reported.
Anglo-South African SABMiller first confirmed on September 16 that it had been approached by Belgian-American AB InBev about a possible takeover, and, in accordance with the UK Takeover Code, AB InBev now has until October 14 to make a firm offer.
The combined company would have a market capitalisation about USD275 billion, or GBP175 billion, making it by far the world's largest brewer and the sixth largest company in the world by market cap.
Over recent days the world?s two biggest brewers have begun ?friendly? talks, sources told The Sunday Times. The discussions continued into Saturday, with Budweiser owner AB InBev expected to make a firm opening offer within days ? possibly Monday morning, the newspaper said.
