(Alliance News) - Pest control specialist Rentokil Initial PLC on Tuesday appointed Mike Duffy as its new chief executive officer.
Duffy will join Crawley, England-based Rentokil on February 16 as CEO designate and take his position as CEO a month later.
He succeeds Andy Ransom, who said he was stepping down as CEO last May. Ransom will leave his position on March 16, but continue to work with the company to ensure a smooth transition ahead of the annual general meeting on May 7.
Duffy, a US citizen, will be based in North America where a large chunk of Rentokil's business takes place.
He is currently CEO of OnTrac, an American logistics company. Prior to this he was CEO of FleetPride Inc, the largest independent business-to-business distributor of parts and a full-service provider for the US heavy-duty truck industry.
Both OnTrac and FleetPride are owned by the US-based private equity business, American Securities LLC.
Rentokil Chair Richard Solomons said Duffy is a "successful business leader with a deep understanding of multi-site and route-based operations and customer acquisition strategies. He has a proven track record of delivering profitable growth and transforming businesses and has the right skills and capabilities to enable Rentokil Initial to realise its full potential over the coming years."
For his part, Duffy called it an "exciting opportunity" to build upon the "strong foundations in place to drive operational excellence, improved financial performance and incremental value for shareholders."
Shares in Rentokil Initial fell 1.9% to 464.50 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
