(Alliance News) - Renewi PLC on Monday said it has appointed Ben Verwaayen as non-executive chair from April, succeeding outgoing Colin Matthews.
The waste management company said Verwaayen has been chief executive for a number of companies, including French telecommunications equipment company Alcatel-Lucent SA and London-based fixed-line, broadband and mobile services provider BT PLC.
He currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of UK regulator Ofcom, cybersecurity firm Akamai Technologies Inc and coatings company Akzo Nobel NV.
"His leadership experience is extensive, he understands the importance of innovation as a disruptor of industries and he has had exposure to climate change which is invaluable to Renewi as we build on our goal to support Europe's transition towards a circular economy. We are confident Ben will play a key role in taking Renewi to the next stage of development," said Senior Independent Director Allard Castelein.
Renewi shares were trading 3.1% lower in London on Monday at 34.00 pence each.
